Providing food and education
Food is a top priority
Building stoves and houses is part of our mission. But if there's no food to eat, stoves and housing become irrelevant.
Food in Guatemala is naturally scarce, and adverse weather conditions, COVID, and other natural and man-made disasters only make it worse. Many families find themselves without adequate food to feed their families.
That's why we're directing a portion of our donations to provide food for people in desperate need.
Knowledge is food for generations
Part of the reason so many Guatemalans are poor is the fact that they don't receive the education they need to raise themselves out of poverty. Many don't go to school beyond the 6th grade. And many times local businesses will only hire those with a high school diploma.
We're helping to change that by building schools and providing the needed education and educational tools that will help give Guatemalan children better futures than their parents. When a generation of children is better educated, everyone in the community benefits.
Special attention to special needs
In addition, we're paying very special attention to children with special needs, giving them the necessary help, schooling, and equipment they require to live their best lives.
